Sam, Brad, and Ted play the pigs, while Brads wife Rhi takes on the role of the big bad wolf, with their  daughter Char as the narrator guiding us through the story.

In their partnership with CT1, the guys decided to put the product to the ultimate test by building one of the pigs’ houses. Forget straw and sticks—this time, they’ve got CT1 to seal it all together. Not just for the bricks and mortar, but also the little finishing touches. CT1 is used to secure the walls, ensuring that this house can withstand not just the wolf’s huffing and puffing, but pretty much anything life throws its way. And trust us, when the wolf shows up, you’ll want to see how CT1 helps keep the pig’s house strong and secure!

Of course, the traditional story elements remain, with straw and wood being used for some of the houses, but with a modern twist: CT1 is here to prove that it can do what traditional materials can't. Will the wolf be blown away by the pigs' newfound power? You’ll have to watch to find out!

Things are really picking up pace at the Chars Project! We’ve kicked off with a full rip-out of the old carpets, clearing the way for a fresh new look. We’ve also knocked down one wall to make the kitchen feel bigger and brighter—soon it’ll be the heart of the home! And we’re making sure everything’s tidy with a skip load of rubbish already hauled away.

The best part? The material company, About Building Supplies, sister company to About Roofing, just delivered the materials so we’re officially moving forward with that next phase of work. Big thanks to them for helping us stay on track! Things are moving fast, and we can’t wait to see how it all comes together.

Last year, The Bald Builders embarked on an exciting new adventure by teaming up with Lee, the business owner of Ardour, for a hands-on microcement course in Newcastle. It was a two-day learning experience packed with knowledge, skill-building, and a bit of fun. What started as a professional development opportunity quickly turned into an unforgettable trip with lots of laughs, teamwork, and valuable lessons.

The Bald Builders have always been about pushing boundaries, and this course was no exception. Microcement—also known by other names like micro screed, micro render, micro concrete, or micro topping—is a thin, versatile cement-based coating that can be applied to a wide range of surfaces. It’s gaining popularity in the world of design and construction because of its sleek, seamless finish and adaptability.

Over two days, the team immersed themselves in the techniques behind applying microcement, from preparation to application. With Lee’s guidance, they learned how to handle the materials, master the technique, and work with precision.
